Like ~ly bands, Australia’s Hoodoo Gurus were largely the issue of their influences; unlike most bands, however, the Hoodoos channeled their inspiration from the monstrous entirety of the American pop cultural view, drawing on such disparate sources in the same manner with B-movies, bad sitcoms, and junk sustenance — in tandem with the common suspects like garage rock, power suddenly, and surf — to create a distinctly kitschy and catchy test.
